Duties of Church Officers

DUTIES OF CHURCH OFFICERS
 
The Sunday School Director
The Superintendent of Sunday School shall have general oversight of the entire school, and shall administer its affairs in cooperation with, and according to, the plans and methods of the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, subject to the approval of the local church. He shall acquaint himself with the best methods of religious education and endeavor to adopt them into this school.
It shall be his duty to counsel quarterly with his teachers and officers in the work of the school, giving advice and receiving suggestions from his co-workers.
He shall see that a full and accurate written report is made of the work of the Sunday School quarterly to the church.This report will be preserved by the Church Clerk as permanent minutes of the church.
The Director of Discipleship Training
The Director of the Baptist Training Union (Discipleship Training) shall have charge of the training activities of the church. He shall acquaint himself with the plans and methods outlined by the Southern Baptist Convention for the Baptist Training Union and shall endeavor to adopt such plans in this church subject to the approval of the church.
He shall see that a full and accurate written report is made of the work of the Training Union quarterly to the church. This report shall be preserved by the Church Clerk as permanent minutes of the church.
The Clerk/Secretary
The Clerk shall keep full and accurate records of all the proceedings of the church at business meetings. He shall keep a complete registry of the membership of the church and shall preserve all papers and valuable letters that belong to the church. He shall keep and properly preserve a true history of the church. He shall make a report of the losses and gains in membership of the church annually, and any other important matters, in the monthly business meeting of the church.
The Sunday School Treasurer and Church Treasurer
It shall be the duty of the Sunday School Treasurer and the Church Treasurer to receive, preserve, and pay out upon proper authority, all money or things of value paid or given to the church, keeping at all times an itemized account of all receipts and disbursements.
It shall be their duty to render an accurate and full report to the church quarterly. The quarterly report shall be preserved by the church Clerk as a part of the permanent record of the church.
The Treasurers shall study the best methods of keeping the financial records of the church and make such recommendations to the church in conference.
They shall render an annual report to the church.
All books, records, and accounts kept by the Treasurers shall be considered property of the church. The books shall be open to inspection at any and all times by any member of the church.
Upon the rendition of the annual reports by the Treasurer, and their acceptance by the church, they shall be delivered to the Church Clerk who keeps and preserve the same as a permanent record of the church.
The Committee on Deliberations (A Standing Committee)
The Committee on Deliberations shall be nominated by the Pastor and Deacons, subject to election annually by the church.
The Committee on Deliberations shall be composed of the Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School Director, Director of Training Union, President of the Baptist Men, President of Women's Ministry, Chairman of Trustees and three other members. The duties of the committee shall be in cooperation with the Pastor, to study the organizations of the church, to keep itself advised and informed on the best methods for improving the entire church program, and to make such recommendations as it deems wise to the different organizations.
*All officers whose duties are not defined above shall perform duties usually incumbent upon such offices.
